Most people can understand almost instantly that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a great stress reliever, amazing work out, and an even better martial art. Most people don’t realize though how much it can improve your life. Here are some very unusual ways BJJ can help you!
BJJ Improves Your Life
1. Community
The Jiu Jitsu community is very friendly not only at Scranton MMA but all over ! Jiu Jitsu is a martial art practiced all over the world. Through out your journey in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you get to meet people through, classes, seminars, tournaments, and even Facebook. You’ll get to make last friendships at your academy and beyond. All of my closest friends I have met through practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
2. Falling
I know in Northeast Pa we have very cold winters. If you live in NEPA you know those winters can also be very icy. Now if you ever fell on some slippery pavement you prob hurt yourself. One of the great things you learn in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (and also judo) is how to fall. It is very important to know how to fall in a fight. If somehow someone is able to throw you or take you down, and you don’t know how to fall correctly you can seriously get hurt. That is why here at Scranton MMA our Gracie 101 class has in its curriculum the proper way how to fall. Now next time you take a tumble on a slippery sidewalk you will be able to stand up without injury and laugh it off !
3. Flexibility
Jiu Jitsu will not only get you stronger, and loss weight but it will also improve your flexibility. Being more flexible can help you in everyday tasks. From preventing injuries to defending yourself to even scratching your back easier, flexibility can help everything. During your progression through Jiu Jitsu we will stretch and also naturally gain flexibility through practicing the moves. In just a short amount of time you will notice very quickly on how much more flexible you will get.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can help you in so many obvious and non obvious ways. So why wait to try it? Take your first step on your Jiu Jitsu journey today at Scranton MMA!
